At the indicated time, we will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco to begin this unforgettable experience on one of the most curious peaks of Peru, we are going trekking on the Rainbow Mountain!
After approximately two hours of travel, we will arrive at the village of Kusipata. There we will enjoy a breakfast that will give us the necessary energy to face the trekking route through the Rainbow Mountain.
Once we have had our fill, we will board the bus and continue the trip for about two hours through Pitumarca, located at 3570 meters above sea level. After this time, we will arrive at a peasant community, from where we begin the hike at 4600 meters above sea level.
Following the guide’s indications, we will ascend among mysterious peaks while encountering Andean animals such as alpacas, sheep and vicuñas.
After an hour and 45 minutes of climbing, we will arrive at the spectacular Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca or the Mountain of the Seven Colors. As soon as you see it, you will discover why its majesty has earned it a place on the list of the 100 places to visit before you die, according to National Geographic magazine.
We will leave you time to take pictures of Rainbow Mountain, and then we will start our descent back to the bus following the same route we took when we arrived. Luckily, going down is easier than going up!
We will return to Kusipata for a buffet lunch – the best possible reward!
At the conclusion of lunch, we will return to the center of Cusco and drop you off near the Plaza de Armas after the 14-15 hour tour.
This tour includes pick up at the following points in Cusco:
– Cusco historical center (San Blas neighborhood, Calle Nueva alta, Saphi, Ruins, Matara, San Pedro, Av. Sol, Tullumayu and Huascar).
– Santa Ana (only to the temple of Santa Ana).
– Recoleta (only to the temple of Recoleta and nearby streets).
– Zaguán del Cielo.
– Lucrepata.
– Wanchaq (the oval of Pachacutec, Infancia, Garcilaso Stadium and Tupac Amaru square).
– Santiago (Grau Bridge and Pasaje Esmeralda).
Please note that the pick up will take place between 4:00am to 4:40am, and will depend on the location of your accommodation.
In case your hotel is not located in any of these areas, we will indicate the exact meeting point, near the Plaza de Armas in Cusco.
– The route we will follow is of high difficulty. We recommend this tour exclusively for people who do not have heart problems.
– The tour takes place at high altitude, reaching approximately 5036 meters. Although the route is flat with small slopes, the lack of oxygen is noticeable. We recommend having a couple of days of acclimatization in the city of Cusco before doing this activity.
